Fleurieu filmfest awards Iran’s ‘Fly’

Iran’s animation ‘Fly’ wins award at the Fleurieu filmfest in Australia.

Iranian short animation ‘Fly’ has been awarded at the Fleurieu Film Festival (FFF) in Australia.

Made by Morteza Halimi, the short animation has received the best animation award at the Australian fest’s 4th edition.

Amirali Mirderikvand’s ‘Dijameh’ is another Iranian title that has also grabbed the best film award of the event.

‘Fly’ is about a little penguin which loses his family before being hatched. The only reason keeps it going on and live is its desire to fly.

Morteza Halimi is from Afghanistan being born and raised in Iran and later he immigrated to Australia. Besides filmmaking that has been his long-term passion, he currently practices as an architecture in Australia.

According to the official website of the FFF, “The Fleurieu Film Festival is an industry-standard, competitive short film festival held on the Fleurieu Peninsula as an avenue for new and emerging filmmakers to showcase their work, it has been running since 2016”.

The fourth edition of the event was held on February 13-14, 2021.
